Smart Browser utilizes modification files to create a description of how families will have to be modified.
The process has two steps:
1) Modification file creation.
2) Running the described modifications.
Note: changes to families will apply only after the "Run Modifications" command is applied.
Creating Modification task
Select one or multiple (Ctrl + left mouse click) families in your library that you want to modify. Right-click on the selection and choose the option "Modify Families".
You will be prompted to enter the modification name.
After the modification name is written, it is needed to enter additional information that will be accessible later:
1) Person modifying
2) Short description of the modification
3) Notes. Any additional information regarding the planned modifications.
Note: Smart Browser will later automatically fill the Notes with the information about the changes that will be made.
Once the modification task file is created, it can be closed and opened at any time to continue filling or to review the modification tasks. To open an already created modification file, click on “Modify Families” and select the required modification file.
To add more families to a previously created modification file, select the required families and in the right-click menu, select “Add Families to be Modified”. Then select to which modification file you would like to add those families.
Modification window
On the top side of the window, the user can access the action panel dedicated to the "Modify Families" file, legends, and the window for the family preview image.
Families are conveniently grouped together in a tree, which may be filtered by any parameter. Define grouping parameters with “Configure Grouping”.
The "Configure Grouping" selection consists of the most general parameters. Additionally, the user can use any parameter that is currently selected inside the table to make it a grouping parameter.
The higher the grouping parameter is, the higher it will appear in the grouping tree view
At the bottom of the window, the user can access additional controls for the family modifications. Those include:
1) "Export Excel". Export the current state of the table into an Excel file. Exported Excel file can be used for the parameter modification.
2) "Import Excel". Import all the changed values from Excel to the Family Modification table.
3) "Select Parameters". Add/remove existing parameters to/from the Family Modification table. Parameters come as a list of all parameters present in the families selected for modification.
4) "Preview 3D DWF". Opens the 3D dwf of the selected family for the preview if it was created with the library file.
In the main part of the window, the user can see all the families selected for the modification and their types in separate lines.
Amount of lines shown in the table will depend on the number of Family Types present inside the chosen families.
Parameters can be selected with “Select Parameters”.
All parameters from the selected families can be seen on the left side of the dialog.
Select the parameters you would like to modify by adding them to the right side of the dialog.
Selected parameters will be shown as separate columns and will contain data specific to the Family Type.
Family Modifications
With right-click menu, you can modify selected values or parameters. After the modification task is created, either the cell or the cell value will change color according to the Legend View.
Save modification file
After filling the modification file with all needed tasks, click on “Save” to save it. Clicking on “Close” will automatically trigger the sequence Save -> Close.
When saving the modification file, Smart Browser will fill Notes with all the described modifications.
After the modification task file is saved, it can be closed and opened at any time to continue filling or to review the modification tasks. To open an already created modification file, click on “Modify Families” and select the required modification file.
